We have just made three improvements to the Insightly mobile web application, which you can use by navigating to http://m.insight.ly in the browser of any Android phone, iPhone, iPad, or Blackberry Torch.
Search As You Type for Contacts and Organizations
We have added the ability to search your contact and organization lists in real time. A new search box is presented at the top of both the contact and organization list, and as you start typing into the list, we will present the matches to your search in the list below. This makes it much easier to find contacts and access their details quickly.
Pagination of Contact and Organization Lists
Insightly mobile will now break up long contact and organization lists into pages of fifty records, so pages load faster and the client is more responsive. Get to the next page by clicking the arrow or page number at the bottom of the list as shown below in red.
Adding Insightly Mobile to the home screen of your Android Phone
Insightly can be added to the home screen of your Android phone for easy access. Just navigatoe to Insightly Mobile at http://m.insight.ly and bookmark the page in Browser or Chrome. Then open your bookmarks and long tap the Insightly bookmark you just saved, and choose the 'Add To Home' option to add Insightly to your home screen. Screenshots are shown below for Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) but other versions are very similar.
Add Insightly Mobile to the home screen of your iPhone or iPad
Insightly can now be added to the home screen of your iPhone or iPad, and when it loads the browser toolbars will be shown, so you have more screen area to use Insightly. Just tap the shortcut icon in the center of the bottom toolbar in Safari, and then choose the "Add to Home Screen" option from the popup menu. Insightly will be added to your iPhone or iPad home screen for easy access.
Note: If you're a Google Apps Paid Business customer and receive an Secure Sign On (SSO) error message when logging into the Mobile app, you will need to enable Federated Login in order to use our mobile app.
Get your Google Apps domain admin to enable Federated Login by doing the following:
- From Google Apps, click "Manage this domain".
- In the blue bar, click on "Advanced tools".
- Under "Authentication", click "Federated Login using OpenID"
- Make sure the checkbox labelled "Allow users to sign in to third party websites using OpenID" is checked.
- Click "Save changes".

when will be available add Insightly to the home screen of android mobile?
ReplyDeleteStrange that iPhone is been given priority for Google Apps market place solution.
ReplyDeleteSo true...
DeleteFor real. Thought Google integration was the deal here. What is Insightly integrated with on the IPhone? Nonsensical.
DeleteAndroid instructions and screenshots are now included.
Deleteeach time I try to log in this way I got this message : Currently this single sign-in feature is disabled for the domain xyz.com
ReplyDeleteas the google app admin of my domain, how can I solve this please ?
Ha, ok, I had to clic on "Allow users to sign in to third party websites using OpenID"
ReplyDeletewhere was that click option Guillaume, I am experiencing that issue as well? thanks
DeleteThe App does the trick for me for seeing my tasks, etc on the go - excellent. I was already relying on the google contacts sync to get phone numbers, etc to my iphone.
ReplyDeleteWorks great on the iphone.... sorry to hear about the Android guys above
We just updated this post with instructions on how to do the same for Android fans. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteMy last post about this seems to have got lost in the ether, apologies if this turns up twice.
ReplyDeleteSo first off, thanks this is helpful. But there are a lot of little things that could make a big difference, and I think be done pretty easily from your end.
1) I can sign in, but even though I tick "remember me" it never does, so I have to sign in every time - how do I have the login "stick"?
2) Although I can bookmark the insightly mobile home page dashboard, I really just want to jump to contacts 9 times out of 10. Because of the log in issue perhaps, or maybe it just doesn't work that way, but I can't get to contacts directly, so everything takes an extra step.
3) When I'm at Contacts - (and the new search is great) I can't instantly add a quick note. I'd love there to be a little text box right under the "add notes" failing that a link that says "add notes". Right now I have to click on notes, and then Add notes - again with a web app where every page takes 5 seconds to load it really slows down the process.
Right now my workflow is
tap icon (wait)/tap login (wait)/tap contacts (wait)/tap notes (wait)/tap Add Notes (wait)/start typing note.
I'd like it to be
tap icon that brings me straight to contacts (wait)/start typing in the text box area. One wait instead of five. Or 5 seconds instead of 25.
Making notes on calls is something that I do a dozen times a day, but I just can't make it work on the mobile app.
Love insightly, long time user (maybe 2 years), I've got my whole team on it - but if this mobile area could get sharpened up it would be a slam dunk. There really isn't a good call, followup, notes reminder that I've found that beats Insightly.
Well put St George,
DeleteOur sales team also need to add quick notes (to Contacts or organisations) while on the road.
Also, I've tried to add notes to an organisation but it only clears the note to a blank screen (using HTC Desire S).
Am I missing something?
I had no idea this existed - Please consider auto direct for mobile users, with 'Full Site' link option. I had no idea this existed until now, and I've been using the full site on my tiny phone screen.
ReplyDeleteMy google doc attachments in organizations are not visible in insightly mobile. Seems like a good integration to have...
ReplyDeleteSmall bits of content which are explained in details, helps me understand the topic, thank you!
ReplyDeleteSign-Mart
Thank you! no problem to log-in and use the app from android :-)
ReplyDeletevery buggy - have to enter task data twice to get it to save and a bunch of other small annoyances - basically right now its fine as a read only tool but not functional for trying to run your sales from the mobile
ReplyDeleteCan you please just add the Insightly calendar to Insightly mobile? This way I can maintain just one calendar. As it is now, you have to use both Google and Insightly calendars on our mobile phones. If I'm at a meeting and want to set an appointment, I can see when I have available time in Google calendar but I have to create the event in Insightly. A simple solution would be to make the Insightly calendar available in Insightly mobile.
ReplyDeleteHow about a SEARCH tool for TASKS?
ReplyDeletehow about just giving us an actual android app? why is this a problem? 2 years ago you said it was coming in the next couple of months. This is so close to being a great software. Imagine tasks being easily accessible and updatable through an app instead of constantly signing in, pinching, zooming, hitting refresh cause service is bad etc...
ReplyDeletethanks for share...
ReplyDeletewhen I enter an event on my computer, it shows twice on my mobile (iphone). Am I doing something wrong? Or is this a bug?
ReplyDeleteBig issue with the ios app! My custom fields (specifically the drop down menus) aren't showing correctly on the app. On the browser version everything appears fine but the iPad app is missing options in the drop down menus (or worse there is nothing even there to select!).
ReplyDeleteIs this a common bug? Was looking at signing on with Insightly but this could be the deal breaker for me.
