Insightly Mobile Website

We're introducing a mobile version of Insightly that is designed for the smaller screens of mobile phones and tablets, and for touch navigation. It's browser based just like it's big brother, but we've taken care to make sure that it is easy to use while on the go. To use it, fire up the mobile browser on your phone or tablet and go to:

Insightly mobile has been tested on a range of different Android phones, iPhones, and on Windows Phone and Blackberry. We also tested it out on several tablets including the iPad.

Insightly Mobile is designed as a companion app to the Insightly web app, and you can do most things on the mobile version like add, edit, manage your tasks, contacts and organizations, opportunities, projects and view emails already saved to Insightly.

Just type in your Google Apps domain to log in as you normally would in the Insightly web app, and the first time you log in you will be taken to a Google login page to enter your Google Apps credentials. After that you will be presented with the Mobile main menu (as shown below).

Tap any of the menu entries to go to that section or use the dark tool bar at the bottom to navigate between sections. When you add or update items in Insightly mobile, they will be saved back to Insightly immediately and the changes will be visible to all other users of Insightly or Insightly Mobile.

In a couple of weeks time, if you access the main Insightly website from your phone or tablet, it will redirect to the new Insightly Mobile website instead, but you will always have the option to view the standard Insightly on your mobile device too. We're also building native iPhone and Android apps that you  will be able to install from the Android Marketplace or the iPhone App Store. These apps will be faster if you have a lot of data in Insightly, but will be very similar to the Insightly Mobile web app in feature set and appearance. They'll arrive later this year. Thanks !

Note: If you're a Google Apps Paid Business customer and receive an Secure Sign On (SSO) error message when logging into the Mobile app, you will need to enable Federated Login in order to use  our mobile app.

Get your Google Apps domain admin to enable Federated Login by doing the following:
  1. From Google Apps, click "Manage this domain".
  2. In the blue bar, click on "Advanced tools".
  3. Under "Authentication", click "Federated Login using OpenID"
  4. Make sure the checkbox labelled "Allow users to sign in to third party websites using OpenID" is checked.
  5. Click "Save changes".

    1. It looks promizing. However, I would need a search function to prefer it over the regular site on my mobile phone.
      Cheers.

  2. If one prefers to use the regular site instead of the mobile version, will there be any way to change it back to the former? Using the regular version is perfect for me; I have no use at all for the mobile site. Please let me know.

I have to give you guys a big plug - Google killed our insight.ly subscription link today, and your support guy gave us the silver bullet within a couple of hours.
I love you guys. Our business is 100% better with your product.

  4. I've just launched it with approx. 6,000 records using an iPad. It looks great, but impossibly slow. It is as if the entire database has to be downloaded before the app can do anything. I do hope the iPad/iPhone app is an improvement. I wish I could, however, I simply cannot use the mobile version in its present form.

  5. So sorry for my somewhat critical comment about this app against your otherwise very userfriendly insightly:
Insightly's strength is just the way it imposes itself on Insightly screens with visible links to tasks, connected organisations, contacts etc. which are not visible in the mobile apps. I use the traditional lay-out on my I-pad which is really great. I do not see so much added value of the mobile app. You'd better spend your time to management information functionality (or more complete export of XML data to create management information by oneselves)
Sorry, but I hope you gain by honest opinions.
For the rest we really benefit from your application.
    best regards,

  6. Links between tasks, opportunities, projects, organizations and contacts are visible in the mobile app, and you can create new links and edit existing links from the mobile version too.

  7. Can someone tell me how to only see my tasks, and not my whole companies? Maybe I am missing something, but I click overdue and none of them belong to me?
    Thanks

  13. It worked yesterday, but today I can't log in: Error while reading message 'DotNetOpenAuth.OpenId.Messages.PositiveAssertionResponse' parameter 'openid.identity' with value 'http://miami-criminal-lawyer.net/openid?id=118197660197039839071'.

  14. good start, easy to access, BUT must add search bar or it's a non-starter. we use this to manage thousands of national accounts.

    1. Hi Rudi. I am a new user and also planning on adding a thousand contacts/accounts. Have you experienced any slowness or delay do to the size of your contact list??

  15. Been waiting a long time for this. Unfortunately when using it on my Droid X the app locks up when I try to access anything.

  16. This is great!! I tried many apps but Insightly was the first and I could not discover any other app that was so clear and simple to do the job. Now this mobile extension really is the cherry on the cake. Keep it up guys.

  17. what about events? can we see them?

  18. Where is the calendar? When I'm out of the office and need to set an appointment with a client, I have to put it into my Google calendar but then I have to go and re-enter it into Insightly to tie it to the contact. I was hoping that the mobile app would eliminate the need to maintain two different calendars to run my business. Am I missing something?

  19. Insightly is fantastic, and this just makes it better. Thank you, thank you! Your application is the best I've seen!

  20. This keeps timing out when I try and access from my iphone using Google Apps. Something about a redirect....

  21. Without search it's almost useless when more data :(

    ReplyDelete
  22. Yes...I agree. Don't know why we can filter projects but can't search contacts. And...it is painfully slow ;-(

    Other than that...it's very cool!

    ReplyDelete
  23. What is a realistic timeframe for native iPhone app this just doesn't work for those of us with larger amounts of data. Painfully slow

  26. One of the most important features of a mobile CRM is a calendar. If you're on the road, you need to know when you're meeting with clients. One issue is how long it takes for Insightly to sync with Google calendar. Another issue is when you enter a new appointment into Google calendar, it doesn't sync back and you have to re-enter it into Insightly to connect it with the contact. Why build a mobile version of Insightly without including a calendar?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Come on guys, some responses to user comments would be helpful....

    Ditto the calendar comments above.

  28. My company recently purchased ipad's for our sales team and started using Insightly. We love the simplicity and features of the program but the mobile site simply doesn't work. We have a few thousand contacts and the program randomly shuts down and closes the browser when we try to open contacts. When I was demo'ing Insightly and had just a few contacts, it worked great and I was sold, but then we imported all of our data and now the program is unusable. As much as I would hate to switch CRM's again, if Insightly doesn't figure out their mobile site, or better yet, come out with an iPad app, my company will be forced to go in another direction.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Also, I want to echo the people who have complained about the lack of a search function. We have thousands of contacts and it scrolling to the bottom of our list takes minutes, not seconds.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Thanks for your comments and feedback everyone. We're going to add search to the Contacts and Organizations list, and paging for large contact lists in the next version of the mobile app - due out very soon.

    Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Ok, I've been using the software for a couple of hours now but it's impossibly slow. So much so that it's nearly unusable. I'm pleased to find a CRM that is well thought out and obviously actively developed but I won't continue to use the product with any real conviction for the company until the speed issue is dealt with, it appears to me to cripple an otherwise very good product.

  32. We have improved Insightly Mobile to now allow for searching of contacts and organizations in the list, and we now break the contact and organization list into pages of 50 items so those lists load faster and are more manageable. Insightly Mobile can now also be added to the home screen of iPhone's and iPad's for quick access.

    ReplyDelete
  33. The website link in Organizations is broken. Tap the "Work" bar, if you've loaded a website, on the iPad the error is "Cannot Open Page" "Safari cannot open the page because the server cannot be found." But iPad works fine with the original Insightly (if not as slick).

Conversely, access the mobile Insightly by Chrome, Mozilla or IE, and all fail to open the link (each has its own error message, but all fail). Something is coded wrong.

    1. Send an email to support@insight.ly with your issue to get a resolution. If possible include the organization on which this occurs too. Thanks.

  34. I love the mobile app, but are there any plans to sync the insightly gmail gadget with gmail on a mobile phone or tablet? My company strictly uses tablets on the road now and it would be really beneficial to be able to save emails to insightly from my tablet.

  35. Really prefer a native Android app as my browsers are frequently busy. Furthermore, such an app could integrate further into the Android OS for automatic event tracking & updates.

Please ASAP Mobile Event, Please ASAP Mobile Event, Please ASAP Mobile Event

I create a couple of opportunities a day on the road... I would love to be able to add an event for a follow up call on the same screen.

I would be fine with the extra step adding a new task via mobile but the "Related opportunity or Project" dropdown is missing???

OOOPS - you can add task via opportunity but not vise versa? odd?? I will try your paid version so tasks will import into my calendar and use the task function for "follow up reminders.

I WANT, LOVE and APPRECIATE PROGRAMMING SIMPLICITY!!!

--Insightly is so brilliantly user friendly and not "too much" for my small business start up. I was literally using it within 5 minutes. I love the desktop web interface with the "link" feature. So simple!!

  37. Can I enter the mobile site if I do not have Google Domain and just using insight.ly as a registeted user? Looks like no.

  39. The features of the mobile website wordpress hemsida creator should work along with the existing templates, and you may want to find a builder that has drag-and-drop functionality. You should not have to work with any coding or have any knowledge about HTML to use the mobile site builders.

  40. Could you please update us as to the progress of the native android app? You had said it was coming soon over a year ago. Using the mobile site is too slow plus you cant even put a comment on a task using the mobile site.
