Thanks to our fantastic user base, Insightly had a great year in 2010. We debuted on the Google App Marketplace a few weeks after it opened with our little CRM tool and have been hard at work ever since - making improvements and enhancements driven by user feedback. We managed to finish our first year on top, as the #1 CRM package in the Google App Store, and the #2 application in the entire marketplace, just behind ManyMoon.
We had a great finish to the year too, debuting Pipelines and Activity Sets, a Gmail gadget, and Google Docs integration - all in the last two months! Some of the other improvements we made in 2010 were:
- Contact importer
- Filters for list views
- Create tasks from emails
- Multi-language support
- Tagging enhancements
- Search within lists
- Exporting tagged items
- Themes
- Enhanced task system
- Google Calendar integration
- Export Contacts to Google
- Contacts list name ordering options
- Multi-link notes
- Pipelines and Activity Sets
- Gmail gadget
- Google Docs integration
- Better Organization history display
Of course we're not going to rest now, and we have a massive 2011 planned. A few of the enhancements we hope to debut in the future include:
- MailChimp integration for email lists
- Mobile clients for Android and iPhone
- a Data API (REST and XML)
- Custom fields
- Domain customization and corporate branding
- External user logins for project collaboration
- Better filtering of lists
- More importers for data
Thanks everyone for a great 2010, as we look forward to an awesome 2011.
Congratulations for your excellent work. Regards from Argentina.
ReplyDeleteExcellent work guys!
ReplyDeleteHave one question, does the "Data API (REST and XML)" mean that analyses will be possible?
Yes, we're looking at better Google Calendar integration than we currently have, and support for appointments too.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to Mailchimp sync, Android app, and hopefully an organization import similar to the contact on. Thanks a ton guys! Great app!
ReplyDeleteCampaignMonitor (as well as Mailchimp) sync would be awesome.
ReplyDeleteI'd love also to see some more useful reporting from the opportunities tab. Even just some totalling of value of work in the pipeline, and value of work predicted for next 30,60,90 days would be a great start!
Loving the product, how are you making any money?!
looking forward to that API the most!
ReplyDeleteGreat start to the year and well donw to get it this far.
ReplyDelete2 enchancement requests:
1) Google calendar Integration - would be better if tasks were added as tasks as opposed to calendar 'events' when there are a lot of taks to do it is almost impossible to identify them in the calendar.
2) Activity Sets: Need to be able to order tasks that are scheduled for the same day, - 2 tasks to do on day 2, which one first, second etc. (especially if I want to add an additional task into the set later)
Keep up the great work!
Guys, this is a great RoadMap.The Mobile App and External user login for Collaboration would and have been at the top of my list. The MailChimp integration is a great added bonus. Thanks for a great product.
ReplyDeleteI wish we could see the tasks through Google Tasks and also, have a "Products" tab, with the flexibility to send such info to customers by email and easily managing changes.
ReplyDeleteJust didn't have the budget for Goldmine, 360, Autotask, or Connectwise. Getting too many leads to keep track of in excel. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Priority is calendar integration buds!
ReplyDeleteDo you have any planned dates for MailChimp?
ReplyDeleteWould love to have Xero.com integration also. Nice product just started using it today and simple yet seems powerful also.
ReplyDeleteThanks
Craig
I use Xero and it has been a life changer. Integration would be fantastic and would deliver a lot of new customers to Insightly as the existing CRM/Xero integration options are not good enough.
DeleteWe use Xero and would love integration! Oliver, you're right, the existing options on Xero just aren't good enough.
Deletegood stuff, guys. Huge vote for the custom fields
ReplyDeleteMailchimp +1 too!
ReplyDeleteExcited for the Mobile App! That will be so useful! Easy input of clients and organizations on the move.
ReplyDeleteMailchimp +1, certainly. Android +10? Really need that to be ubiquitous, and shouldn't a task planner be that?
ReplyDeletePLEASE add CUSTOM FIELDS with CONTEXT like solve360. Also API and 3rd party apps.
ReplyDeleteThe year is half over, and the only thing on the roadmap we've seen is branding. I'd be willing to bet very few of your customers would put that over many things on this list, given that it's an entirely internally accessible tool right now.
ReplyDeletePlease provide an update of some sort. If some form of API isn't in the near future, I hate to say it but keeping the business on Insight.ly will be too detrimental. API's are just how the world works right now. I've contacted you through every avenue I can think of (support, requests, twitter) and heard nothing back on the subject.
When I moved us off of SalesForce I took a leap of faith that APIs were imminent, based on your roadmap, and the fact that up until this year - you were innovating constantly. Please give us an update here. It's literally crippling our business.
+1 for REST/XML API... please!! I need to integrate my contacts with my website
ReplyDeleteThis product would be unbeatable if it had custom fields and an API.
ReplyDeleteI'm was originally trying to choose between Highrise and Salesforce then noticed Insightly in the Google Apps Market Place.
It's so easy to use and nice and clean but the lack of custom fields and an API mean that I can't consider it for now. If you don't need these, I reckon it's hard to beat.
We are looking at using Insightly for an online business. Any chance you can confirm custom fields for opportunities with API access?
ReplyDeleteAny word on mobile apps
ReplyDeleteAndroid App?
ReplyDeleteReally need that android app!
ReplyDeleteCan someone advise on how to create opportunity or project summary reports from the xml exports?
ReplyDeleteYep, the lack of mobile support is keeping me using a competing software that has less features.
ReplyDeleteSo when I can I expect an app for iPad? That would boost my productivity tremendously.

ReplyDeleteAndroid app?
ReplyDeleteSure am looking forward to it!
(love Insightly, you guys are doing a great job!!!)
Where is the API?
ReplyDelete+1 for the API - essential to enable us to turn all the data into useful information and better integrate Insightly into our business processes.
ReplyDeleteAdd my request for an API as well. Don't mind paying for large usage too
ReplyDeleteI'm really hoping for an api as well. Please provide some sort of update...
ReplyDeleteOur API will be shipping for users on paid plans next week.
ReplyDeletePlease look at integrating with Xero it would bring a LOT of new customers to you and would help me as a Xero user.
